Betsson Group wanted to offer its employees a practical activity for Environment and Sustainability Day that would align with the company’s values. The goal was to remind everyone how old materials can be given a new life and to provide employees with a creative and engaging break during the workday.

For this, they chose Örreke’s “Shards Bring Luck” workshop, where new items like pendants, earrings, and keychains are made from old porcelain shards.

A workshop that fit the rhythm of the workday

It was important for Betsson Group that the workshop fit into the day’s office schedule. Not all employees could participate at the same time, so Örreke organized the workshop with a flexible schedule. This meant people could come and craft during their lunch break or between meetings.

The workshop took place at the Betsson Group office in Tallinn, and a total of 25 people participated over the course of three hours.

New life for old porcelain

The “Shards Bring Luck” workshop was a great fit for the sustainability day theme because it focuses on recycling. Broken porcelain doesn’t have to go in the bin – it can be used to make something new, personal, and useful.

Participants made pendants and keychains from porcelain shards. Some employees even brought their own broken mugs to turn them into something new. This made the workshop even more personal, as the finished item wasn’t just a random craft but was connected to the participant’s own story.

Örreke took care of all the arrangements

Örreke brought all the necessary materials and tools and was responsible for setting up and cleaning up the workshop. Betsson Group didn’t have to source materials, prepare the work process, or worry about cleaning up after the workshop ended.

This solution is perfect for companies that want to organize a creative activity in the office without adding an extra organizational burden to their team. The workshop can be timed to fit into a seminar day, values day, team event, or any other internal event schedule.

Simple idea and an impressive result

The porcelain shard workshop was exciting for participants because many hadn’t previously thought that broken dishes could be used to make jewelry or keychains. The immediate feedback was very positive: people were surprised by how simple the process was and how impressive the final result turned out.

The value of the workshop wasn’t just in the finished items. It gave employees a chance to step away from their workday for a moment, do something with their hands, and experience the theme of sustainability in a practical way.
